PLEASE NOTE: The term 'blackout' refers to the fact that the fabric is designed not to allow light to pass through it. Light ingress and bleed will occur through the gap between each slat and the perimeter of the vertical blind unit. Also this Classic Blackout vane has a colour co-ordinated blackout backing to match the fabric front.

Colour & Finish

  • Colour: A deep, saturated black—closer to true jet black than charcoal.
  • Tone/Depth: Consistent, bold depth. The slats absorb light rather than reflect it, giving the window a clean, architecturally defined outline.
  • Finish: Matte to very low sheen, with a smooth, finely grained surface. No visible patterning; the overall effect is sleek, modern, and understated.
  • Visual impact: The solid matte black creates crisp contrast against light skirting, walls, and trims. When the slats are angled or stacked, they produce neat vertical shadows that enhance the window’s geometry.

Material Look & Construction

  • Fabric feel (appearance): The material is a tightly woven synthetic (polyester‑based) with a smooth and uniform face. Subtle texture gives it a contemporary, refined look without appearing shiny.
  • Opacity: Blackout—designed to significantly reduce incoming light, making it suitable for privacy, glare reduction, and light‑controlled rooms.
  • Practical note: Matte synthetics like these tend to be low‑maintenance: they resist dust cling, wipe clean easily, and keep their shape well. The bottom chain shown helps keep the slats evenly aligned, especially useful in high‑traffic or breezy rooms.

Room Styles That Match "Classic Blackout Iron"

1) Modern Minimal / Contemporary

  • Pair with white, cool grey, or soft stone walls.
  • Works well with slimline black ironmongery and cool‑toned metals (brushed steel, chrome).
  • The blinds form a sharp black “frame” that anchors clean-line interiors.

2) Monochrome Luxe

  • Ideal for interiors using black, white, and a single metallic accent (chrome, brass).
  • Complements glossy furniture, lacquered surfaces, and marble or quartz.
  • Enhances the contrast-driven sophistication of the room.

3) Industrial / Urban

  • Suits concrete, exposed brick, metal fixtures, and darker timber finishes.
  • The matte black slats echo the look of structural steels and ducting.
  • Perfect for loft-style spaces or renovated industrial homes.

4) Scandinavian with Edge

  • Works with pale oak, off-white walls, and natural textures (linen, wool, jute).
  • The dark blinds bring a graphic, modern tension to softer Nordic palettes.
  • Add warm textiles (bouclé, knitted throws) to counterbalance the depth.

5) Home Office / Studio

  • Excellent for controlling screen glare while maintaining a smart, professional appearance.
  • Pair with streamlined desks, organised cable setups, and black task lighting.
  • Ideal for productivity-driven spaces.

6) Media Room / Bedroom (Dark Cocoon)

  • Blackout functionality enhances the immersive, cinema-style ambiance.
  • Creates a cosy, enclosed feel perfect for film nights or restful sleep.
  • Works best with layered lighting—dimmable lamps, wall washers, or soft LED strips.

7) Hotel‑Chic

  • Looks luxurious with plush fabrics, velvet cushions, heavy rugs, and metallic bedside lamps.
  • Combine with warm woods and soft, warm lighting for a boutique‑hotel feel.
  • The uniform black lines add sophistication and polish to the room.
